The week began with nine Bennett drivers going to Columbia Falls, Maine to pick up wreaths from the Worcester Wreath Company, the founders of the Wreaths Across America organization. They joined truckers who delivered more than 2.2. million wreaths to 2,175 participating locations throughout the country, all committed to the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach.

After arriving at Bennett’s Home Office headquarters in McDonough, Georgia, the Bennett drivers, Lars Searle and Stephanie Hanwell, Mikkel Forney, Chris and Brandi Clark, David and Sharon Briggs and Stewart and Melody Anderson were celebrated by executives at the Rolling Ambassador Honor Breakfast.

Following the breakfast, employees gathered in the company’s shop to celebrate with a Convoy Rally that featured the JROTC color guard and the Mustangs band from Ola High School, playing our National Anthem. In addition, each driver received a commemorative medal to recognize their service as volunteers. David Pittman, President and CFO of the Bennett Family of Companies and his father, David Pittman Sr., were recognized as Honorary Rolling Ambassadors and also presented with commemorative medals.

Following the rally, there was a small ceremony held outside to reveal the specially wrapped trailer dedicated to honor the 13 service members that tragically lost their lives in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021.  Bennett extended invitations to all of the families that lost their loved ones in Afghanistan. The family of Marine Corporal Humberto “Bert” Sanchez attended the Rolling Ambassador Honor Breakfast and the Convoy Rally to honor his legacy.

Bennett employees gathered outside to show appreciation to the Sanchez family, Ambassadors and those participating in the convoy by waving American flags as the convoy headed to Americus, Georgia. Watch footage from the convoy and trailer reveal from Bennett’s Facebook page here.

The trucks left McDonough, escorted by the Henry County Sheriff, the Henry County Police along with the Thunder Riders West H.O.G. Chapter through the backroads to Americus, Georgia, and finally stopping at Andersonville National Cemetery to unload.

In 2020, the Bennett Family of Companies and the Taylor Foundation were able to deliver 10,971 wreaths to the cemetery to cover 20,300 gravesites at Andersonville. This past year’s fundraising efforts remained a challenge due to the pandemic, however, with the support of Bennett employees, agents, drivers from across the country and the Henry County business community, it was a blessing to be able to cover every gravesite at Andersonville National Cemetery with a wreath and continue to be a part of National Wreaths Across America Day.

“Our goal each year has been to cover every gravesite at Andersonville with 20,300 wreaths. With the support of our drivers, our employees and the local community, we were able to reach our goal! The following morning, for National Wreaths Across America Day, a small ceremony was held that honored all veterans, and especially the fallen who are laid to rest at Andersonville.  Bennett’s Executive Vice President and Wreaths Across America captain, Lee Gentry appeared alongside Andersonville National Cemetery Superintendent, Gia Wagner, to lead a ceremony that honored the 13 service members lost in Afghanistan, all veterans, and especially the fallen who are laid to rest at Andersonville.

It is estimated that over 100 Bennett employees and their families descended on Andersonville to begin laying wreaths on the gravesites along with local supporters. After each wreath was laid by people of all ages, and proper honor and tribute was paid to each soldier laid to rest there, the cemetery was left with a lasting image of respect and tribute to the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

BHS underwent a rigorous audit by DOE personnel known as the Motor Carrier Evaluation Program (MCEP) and received its satisfactory rating and approval in February of this year. Tier 1 carriers, registered with the Department of Energy, can transport hazardous materials, including radioactive materials and waste that require a Hazardous Materials Safety Permit, or a Hazardous Materials Security Plan.

Now, drivers can prepare for various safety critical situations such as dangerous weather and road conditions, difficult terrains, urban deliveries, high traffic, construction zones, and more.

MCDONOUGH, GA., (November 1, 2019) – Bennett Truck Transport, LLC (Bennett) is pleased to announce today the closing on the asset purchase agreement with RoadMasters Transport Company, LLC and its open-deck, general freight carrier RoadMasters Power Transport, LLC, collectively “RoadMasters”. RoadMasters is an Athens, Texas-based privately-held company founded in 1978 as Manufacturer’s Mobile Home Transport Inc. and later named RoadMasters Transport Company in 1992. In 2005, RoadMasters Power Transport was formed to expand their permitted load carrying abilities.

The RoadMasters Companies have provided over 41 years of service to shippers of manufactured housing and modular buildings, and almost 15 years of open-deck freight shippers across North America.

With this acquisition, Bennett will be able to increase its fleet capacity. The addition of RoadMasters will grow Bennett Truck Transport by 100 toter owner-operators and 145 open-deck owner-operators in its general freight network.

RoadMasters’ day-to-day operations will continue from the Athens, Texas facilities with the current management team. Chuck Ladd will continue his leadership through a consulting role. MCDONOUGH, GA., (September 4, 2019)– Bennett Motor Express, LLC (Bennett) is pleased to announce the addition of a new agent, Contractors Cargo Company (CCC), a Los Angeles, California-based family-owned and operated company specializing in super heavy haul transportation.

With the addition of CCC as an agent, Bennett will be able to offer new super heavy haul capabilities in its Heavy Haul division. In North America, CCC is able to move freight from 100,000 pounds to more than 1 million. MCDONOUGH, Ga. – August 30, 2019 – Thursday and Friday, Sept. 12 & 13, 2019, as part of the company’s Driver Appreciation Events, Bennett International Group will host the Wreaths Across America’s Mobile Education Exhibit. The rolling exhibit will participate in the Wreaths of Honor Ride on Thursday to help raise funds to ensure all those laid to rest at Andersonville National Cemetery receive a veterans’ wreath this December.

The goal of the Wreaths Across America Education Exhibit is to bring local communities and our military together with education, stories and interactive connections. When touring the Exhibit, Bennett employees and guests will have the opportunity to explore, learn and remember our fallen veterans.

The local community is invited and encouraged to visit the exhibit while in town.

• The Wreaths of Honor Motorcycle Ride starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway,  at 8AM
• The Mobile Education Exhibit will be set up at Bennett’s headquarters located at 1001 Industrial Parkway, McDonough, GA, from 1- 5 PM on Thursday and from 8 AM – 2 PM on Friday during the company’s Driver Appreciation Day Celebration

Bennett’s involvement in Wreaths Across America began as a mission in 2017 to support the Truckload Carrier Association’s efforts to provide trucking partners to transport veterans’ wreaths. After helping to transport more than 3,000 wreaths to the Andersonville National Cemetery in Georgia, the company launched a hugely successful effort on the local community in 2018, yielding over 15,000 wreaths. In 2019, the company hopes to match last year’s efforts with the ultimate goal to cover all 20,200 gravesites at Andersonville. “Wreaths Across America aligns with Bennett’s Patriotism core value,” said Lee Gentry, Executive Vice President. “We have strong roots in the military with our employees, drivers and customers. Honoring our fallen heroes is a passion of mine, and for so many of our employees who have lost loved ones or choose to honor the sacrifice others have made for our freedom. We have upped the goal this year to 15,000 wreaths for Andersonville, but our eyes are set on covering every gravesite.”

Bennett has drivers ready to transport wreaths in a convoy of wrapped trailers that honor service members from each branch of the U.S. armed forces. The company also partnered with Load Covering Solutions on a custom-printed curtain side trailer dedicated to Wreaths Across America and the efforts to honor the fallen.

Bennett has pioneered education efforts by being the first trucking company to bring the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit to their local community to help spread the message and raise funds. The Taylor Family Foundation – Bennett’s 501(c)(3) Community Outreach organization has committed significant funding to sponsor wreaths to fill these trucks.
